Dress up with your pup and come out to the Lake Meade Dog Park for Suffolk Parks and Recreation Annual Yappy Hour and Doggy Howl-oween Costume Contest Friday, October 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Come out for a laid-back evening of fun and socializing in the autumn air. Enjoy drinks and music while you and your dog meet new friends. Come with a creative costume idea, and the best dressed dogs will go home with a prize!  This event is free and open to all dog park members. Dog park membership can be acquired at the Suffolk Parks & Recreation Administrative Building or during office hours at the Lake Meade Park office. All dogs must be on a leash and up- to-date on all vaccines to attend.

Franklin National Night Out

The City of Franklin, including several city departments, civic/community groups, and businesses are hosting the City of Franklin’s 2021 National Night Out event at Armory Field on August 3, 2021. National Night Out is designed to bring the community and public safety partners, primarily law enforcement, together to celebrate the successes we have seen over the past year as well as build on the future. Law enforcement cannot prevent crime on its own and therefore we are excited to open this event up to all. This is a great opportunity for communities, neighbors, businesses, and churches to come together to work toward a better tomorrow through civic engagement and building of partnerships. We invite your community, neighborhood group, business, or church, no matter how big or how small, to join us between 6 PM and 9 PM. Bring your chairs, tents, tables, and anything else you may want. Set up an area for your group so that your group can interact among itself but more importantly interact with other groups who come that night. We will have the food, entertainment, and public safety partners present to make it a memorable evening.

With millions of neighbors expected to join in, August 3rd will be a night that citizens across America can send a powerful message that neighborhoods and police-community partnerships can change the course of crime in Suffolk.
