Smithfield 2020, working with Smithfield & Isle of Wight CVB and the Arts Center @ 319, is presenting a Banner Contest. These banners will be displayed on the light poles throughout downtown Smithfield. The purpose of the Banner Contest is to: Illustrate the town's new brand identity, "Genuine Smithfield," promote art and culture and artistic engagement with the community, and beautify downtown Smithfield with original artwork! Artwork must illustrate the theme: "Genuine Smithfield...Savor Our Small-Town Southern Charm" and reflect some attribute of or location in the town of Smithfield. Artists can submit photos, drawings, paintings, collage, digital artwork, etc. - any two dimensional medium.
The contest is open to all - amateur and professional artists/photographers and students. There is no age limit for the artists and the artist does not have to be a resident of Smithfield to enter. Deadline for all entries is Monday, May 12 at 12 noon. Entries (except digital entries) and application must be delivered to the ArtsCenter @ 319, 319 Main Street, Attn. Sheila Gwaltney by the deadline. Digital entries can be submitted on a CD of flash drive to the VisitorCenter or emailed to isleofwightphotocontest@gmail.com by the same deadline.
