The 13th Annual Roanoke Chowan Pork-Fest will kick off with a free concert by the Potecasi Creek String Band on Friday night, May 16th, on the grounds of the Brady C. Jefcoat Museum of America from 6pm-7pm. On Saturday, May 17th, the festivities begin at 8:30am, and continue until 4pm. The Moonshine Band will play live music, entertaining attendees while they stroll through “pork alley” and watch the competitors work from 8:30am to 11am. When the cooking is done and judging is underway, the pork will be chopped, combined and topped with Murfreesboro’s secret sauce, then served with cole slaw, potatoes, and hush puppies from 12 noon until 3pm.
